What's For Lunch?

Delmar Elementary School in Maryland, USA and Yamato Elementary School in Japan

Celebrating 10 years of online projects with our friend and teacher - Isamu Shimazaki!
1995-2005

Our long time friend and teacher at Yamato Elementary in Japan, Isamu Shimazaki, sent us an email on October 29, 2005 and a picture of a school lunch at Yamato Elementary:

"How is your school lunch?" is our theme for this year.

We want to study about school lunch all over the world. We have some problem about that though. There are many students do not finish their lunch completely. So there are many leavings everyday. This is a serious problem. How do you manage your school lunch? Another question is "Do you have breakfast every morning?" Something like that we are planning to work with global project.

Delmar students in Mrs. Weeg's classes are excited about an exchange with Japanese friends. We went to the cafeteria today to meet with some of our cafeteria ladies. They were a big help! They helped us list all the fruit that students can get in school lunches at Delmar. Mr. Isamu's students are busy gathering data from their survey: "What is your favorite fruit at school?" and Delmar students are doing the same.
