My Favorite Birthday
by David "Hurry, David! He’s going to get you! " I ran as fast as I could. My legs were hurting and I was out of breath! When I got up to bat I hit a high fly ball way out into the corn field. I hoped I could make it around all the bases. Today, June 27th, is my birthday and in the morning we had a family picnic and baseball game. The game was at Wicomico baseball field. The game started at 10:00 and ended at 12:00 Then we had a picnic and then we got to play on the play ground. Mom was in the outfield. The sun got in her eyes and she dropped the ball. I hit a home run and ran all around the bases. Mom invited my cousins. They are good at playing sports. Dad was the pitcher and mom was in the outfield. My youngest cousin wasn't playing. My cousin was on 1st base . My Aunt was on 2nd base. My oldest cousin was on 3rd base. My sister was batting. I was waiting to bat because I was next. My two brothers were waiting to bat after me. My turn finally came and I swung the bat and got a strike. Dad pitched the next ball and I knew I was going to hit the ball. Smack!! My bat hit the ball and I took off heading for first base. As I was running around 3rd heading for home, mom threw the ball to dad. My dad threw the ball too high and it went over the fence. The ball got lost behind the batter’s box. My dog, Tippy, was laying down on the picnic towel outside the cage next to the batter’s box. Tippy ran to look for the ball. We all went out to look for the ball in the cornfield. Tippy found the ball, nudged it with his nose and grabbed the ball with his teeth. He brought the ball to me. The game continued. At the end of six innings my team won and the score was 10 to 9. We went home and had ice cream and cake. My birthday was fun. I gave Tippy a piece of cake as a reward for finding my ball. Then Tippy and I watched TV. Then Tippy and I took a nap. After my nap Tippy and I had another piece of cake and some ice cream. I’ll always remember this birthday.
