Ways to Use Danni the Bear in the Classroom
Mrs. Joyce Taylor writes:

The fifth graders not only enjoyed Danni's visit, but we also learned many new things.

  1. We practiced our geography skills and located Brazil on maps, which led to discussions about time differences between Brazil and America.
  2. We sponsored a "Danni Sharing" with Mrs. Mason's 1st graders by presenting the items in Danni's box in small groups and leading discussions about the contents.
  3. We used venn diagrams in reading to compare/contrast the brazilian agenda to our school agenda, and to compare/contrast brazilian money to our money.
  4. We e-mailed students in Brazil about the Danni project, and about what we enjoyed/learned from the experience.
  5. We helped the Kindergarten students write their messages and e-mail them in the lab.
