When Danni the traveling teddy bear arrived at Delmar in late April his schedule was full. He visited 2 kindergarten classes, a 3rd grade
homeroom, a 5th grade homeroom, Title 1 computer lab students and
students in grades 5 and 6 who come to our open lab in the morning before
school and at recess. Kindergarten teacher, Cindy Tardiff, shares her ideas for using Danni in the kindergarten classroom -
In Kindergarten:
- we used the globe to locate Brazil and Delmar, MD
- we wrote a class letter about our excitement over the visit
- we brought our own teddy bears to school for a bear party
- we talked about our bears and why they are special
- we sorted our bears by size, color, clothing (or not)
- we viewed Danni's web pages with the help of fifth-graders and sent him
email
Other things we might have done:
- graph the results of sorting our bears
- write a story about Danni's visit and/or the party
