Ways to Use Danni the Bear in the Classroom
We had a lot of fun creating our book of Maryland. We brainstormed what we wanted to write about. Then we did a rough draft. We had to peer response with a partner to decide what needed to be changed and added to our paragraphs. Then we made a second copy with the copy machine. We created two books - one to send with Danni and one for us to keep here. We had to create a picture on the one to send to Danni and then make a similar one on the other copy. We used our math terms. We talked about congruent and similar. We could only make similar pictures. We also talked about the time difference. If it was 11:00 am here, it was 12 noon in Brazil. We also got to read stories to Danni. We had all his "stuff" set up on the back table and we shared all the fun things. We had to guess what a lot of the items were. We really liked the candy. It was interesting to see all the different types and languages. After Danni left, we went to the computer lab, The Write Place, and typed in our paragraphs of Maryland. They will be posted on the web with some of the student's pictures. We really enjoyed having Danni here with us in 3rd Grade at Delmar Elementary School in Maryland.
