Meike

From The Netherlands

Our Delmar students know Meike best by her clever .exe files that she and her dad send us. At Christmas time several years ago Meike made ASCII art pictures of a snowman and rudolf which she e-mailed to us. These files are pictures in lovely color. The nose of the Rudolf blinks and Frosty the Snowman's eyes wink at us. She made a cartoon with a juggling frog that has sound. My younger Delmar students are fascinated with these files and like to see them with the lights off in my lab. They always ask if Meike has drawn more pictures for them!

Meike has written several letters to the Delmar students and they comforted her with their mail when we heard about the death of her teacher this year.

We wrote to Meike and her dad with our concern for them during the terrible floods in The Netherlands this year. While they did not suffer any loss some of their family members had to evacuate from another town.

Meike also likes to create pictures with her favorite computer paint program and you can see them here. Some of these pictures were drawn to illustrate stories that were written collaboratively online during the KIDLINK Writer's Corner IRC discussions on Saturday's. (KIDCLUB - 17:00 GMT - weekly)
