Huh???

Mr. D, We don't understand...

Late at night from Mr. D after his return flight home:

One quick answer for everyone:

RE: What is QRS missing? When doctors describe the electrical activity of the heart, they identify each part by a letter of the alphabet. Here are the definitions, P wave = the electrical signal that starts in the atrium or atria and represents the contraction of the top chambers of the heart. QRS are the components that make up the electrical ventricular deactivation and represent the contraction of the ventricles. T wave = ventricular repolarization wave form. You might describe this as the part of the cardiac cycle when the heart is relaxing (although this is not 100% accurate). There are no ABCDEF...LMNO, VWXYZ waves pertaining to the cardiac cycle. There is a U wave that is present on the ECG but there is controversy about what it represents. The phrase QRS missing means that there should have been evidence of a ventricular (main pumping chamber) contraction but because the patient (like you, Sparki) is in second degree heart block, only every other electrical sequence gets past the roadblock.

...and the girls said, "Huh???"
Dear Mr.D,

The letter that you sent about what a QRS is missing makes no sense to me!! The part about the P wave=the electrical signals makes is so hard to understand! When you talk about alphabet what do you mean? Write back!

Your friend,

Danielle

Dear Mr. Delos,

Hi!! How are you ? I'm fine. HUH????? You are using all of these big words that I can't understand. Can you say that in English? In my question which heart chamber does the first wire thingy goes into I would tell you the chamber, but I don't know what they are called. Shouldn't the answer be the right chamber to the person who has the pacemaker. I have to go I have a project to do!!

Sincerely,
Ashleigh
PS - Write back

Dear Mr.D.

Hi!! How are you? This letter I am writing to you during Media. Our Media teacher lets us come to Kidlink if we don't want to check out a book. We are working on the questions you gave us. We are also tring to find the books that have the answers. The short letter you gave us on the 17th, we didn't understand it. Mrs. Weeg to a picture of the four of us while our faces were puzzled. She said it was perfect. Could you explain it a little better???

Your keypal,
Kim

Dear Mr. Delos,

Thanks for answering me. What do those big words mean? I can hardly pronounce them. Do you like your job? You are quick at answering letters. Mrs. Ennis made the metronome go fast and slow. Pacemakers have come a long way. Well, I am going to look up the heart rate of other animals. Well, got to go.

Your Key Pal,
Heather

Ashley didn't write to you today because she was busy with search engines trying to find the heart rate of the animals you listed. She found one of them and look at that face! "Yessss!!!" That's what she said. ;-)
