Lesson Three:
Objectives:
- Students will discover the availability and and uses for the natural and human resources on all three islands.
- Students will investigate the imported/exported products, goods, and services for all three islands.
- Students will define industry and locate key industrial areas on all three islands.
- Students will list a minimum of five objects which typify their island home and would be easily mailed to their keypal in a box whose dimensions do not exceed 6" x 8" x 13".
- Students will research and investigate how each island uses its resources to support the physical and cultural needs and wants of its population.
- Students will share common, local prices for desirable objects with their keypals and convert those prices to that of the monetary system used on their keypals island.

- library texts providing information for Hawaii, Ireland, and Great Britain
- atlas
- world map
- shoe boxes (or similar sized box)
- art supplies (for map work)
- outline maps of Oahu, Ireland, Great Britain (clean)
- encyclopedias
- dictionaries
- social studies text
- phone book
- student groups of four
