Social Studies
Patterns of attitudes and
behaviors Describe and explain traditional
and changing lifestyles of people in various regions of the
world, including Hawaii and the Pacific. Construct reasoned judgements about
persisting societal issues across time and
cultures. Relationships within and among
places, people and environments. Explain, use and apply geographic
themes of location, place, human-environment
interactions,movement, and region. Define, use and apply
elements of scale,symbols, and direction in the creation and

tools and resources (e.g. maps, atlases, computer bases,
Pacific navigational charts). Identify and evaluate alternative
