Houses in the United Kingdom

Stanley Infant School

Date: Tue, 29 Sep 92 22:18 BST
Subject: This weeks messages from Stanley school kids in the UK

Today the children from Stanley Infants school arrived, they read the
messages from Iceland, became very excited and for the next hour I was
swamped with requests for spellings and "the writing has gone from our
screen, can you get it back please?" or "please sir we pressed this button
like you said and the computer gave us the word we wanted" (They are using
'Mindreader') as 17 youngsters busied themselves to write their replies.
These kids really are fun.

Some of the children thought it would be a good idea to make a tape
recording which they could post to anyone who is interested so a
little group began to do this whilst others made model houses from
strips of wood.

Amy thought it would be nice if we could send each other postcards.
Could we exchange addresses?

Have a good day
regards Mike Burleigh

Hello from Amy to Iceland,

I am six and I go to Stanley school and I know it is cold
there. How many clothes do you wear because I only wear my summer
coat to school. I suppose you are used to the cold.
Please send me your address so I can send you a postcard.

Hello from Jodie and Jade.
We are six years old and we
would like to tell you about
the house boats on the river
beside our school. The house
boats are tied up and do not
move but some people live on
narrow boats that go up and
down the river.
I would like to live on a narrow
boat BECAUSE IT MUST BE NICE AND
COSY. O DEAR THE LETTERS HAVE GON
BIG.

To Gisli Tryggvi in Iceland,
Hi from England, our country is cool.
My house is a browney red. The sea is not
near us. But there is a big river called
the tems. Love from Elizabeth.
you asked some questions
Brick houses are like lego houses
some of the trains do go in tunnels.
no,no,no there are no earthquakes in England.
We don't have flat roofs. Our school is grey.
We only have snow very rarely. Yes we can see
the stars in the evenings.
Love from Andrew.
