Dear Mr. Hess:
The students were really excited about hearing your letter from Antarctica. They have set up a box where they put their questions and each Friday we will e-mail you our questions for the week. I hope this works alright. They are starting a research paper on Antarctica next week so they may have lots more questions once they get started.
It was exciting to hear about your plane ride to Antarctica. How is the weather down there? Hope you enjoyed your trip.
How many people are on the base with you? How many people went down with you this time?
How is the temperatures different there in spring and in fall?
What research projects are you involved with in Antarctica?
What is the coldest temperatures you expect to see this time of year? Do you have lots of snow? We just had five inches of snow Wednesday night and didn't have school on Thursday. Do you celebrate Christmas or any other holidays in Antarctica?
How much sunlight per day do you get this time of year and for how many months will this last? Have you seen any penguins?
