Creating a Signature File

Tom and Bob solve a problem.

  1. Open Notepad in Windows.
  2. Type a few lines that you would like to have appended to your e-mail messages. You should include your name and e-mail address. The rest is optional. If you have an e-mail address other than the one you have here in class list that one as well. Here is a sample signature:

    ===========================
    Mickey Mouse
    Walt Disney Character
    mouse@www.wicomico.k12.md.us
    mickey@disney.com
    ===========================

  3. Save your file.
  4. Go to Netscape Mail, click on "Options" and then go to "Mail and News Preferences."
  5. Go to "identity" and find the box where the label says "signature." Give the path to your signature file. We are on drive F on the network.
  6. Begin a new mail message and watch your signature appear.
