Their letters are written mostly in Urdu.The kids attending these schools come from pretty disadvantaged homes. It would be culturally appropriate to have girls write back. Some of them have written in pairs, as this made them feel more comfortable. Asalam Alaikum is the way we greet each other, and means Peace be upon you. Allah Hafiz means may God be with you, and is exchanged as a fare well. It is interesting how the girls have used Hello, and Asalam Alaikum in one letter.
