More Mail From Kate in Alaska

On location with the NASA Team

Felicia-
Sounding Rockets are rockets that make measurements
of various things. I have cats like you do. My cats are
named Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltzken, and Cinderella. Cinderella
is just a baby cat. They're all crazy. All homes i've seen
up here are regular and have bathrooms and showers but, I
don't know if the natives do or not.

Robert-
In Alaska there are various restaurants to get the
hamburgers from. I'm not sure of the most expensive burger
in Alaska but, the most expensive one i've had was 7.00 at a
place called Chatinika Lodge. They do have fast food
restaurants that are less expensive. No, the water is just
like in Salisbury, you can have warm or cool.
------------------------------------------------------------
Tommy-
I don't know if the natives are upset by the rocket
launches. I haven't heard of them being mad about it.
Monkey's have been sent up in space, but it's not something
NASA does anymore. It is light 24 hours a day currently in
Alaska.

Craig-
The sounding rocket will go about 100 kilometers
high and, fifty kilometers away. It comes back on a
parachute, then it will be launched a second time. We will
get back from our trip in early to mid August. The northern
lights can be seen during wintertime when it's dark all day
and night. The noctilucint clouds aren't invisible, they're
just rarely seen.
------------------------------------------------------------
J.W.-
No I haven't gotten homesick yet. I'm coming back
in mid August. I've seen a moose, a beaver, a fox, caribou
and, muskox. NASA used to send animals into space but, they
don't anymore. Monkeys and hampsters and dogs have been
sent into space. They sent the animals into space to see
what could happen to a person if they went. Alaska is fun.
There is a lot to see and do. It is alot different from the
flat land of Salisbury.
------------------------------------------------------------
Michael-
There is nothing unusual about the toppings on the
hamburger. The usual lettuce, tomato, pickles deal. I have
bought one of these " MASTER" hamburgers. I enjoyed every
greasy bite. I'll try to measure this burger. McDonalds,
Taco Bell, and Burger King are about the cheapest places to
eat.
