Lesson Activities/Procedures Student will:
  • select an occupation from the occupational listing
  • obtain Career Kokua information from Mrs. Gerbig in the Transition Center at A-6
  • submit four resources used for project:
    1. Career Kokua resource
    2. Two internet sources, one of which will be from a foreign nation
    3. Interview a community expert in related profession
  • create a visual aide
  • present information to class

Classroom management for access to computers

Assessment

Final project and oral presentation using visual aid will be assessed. Technology allows the student to interact personally with foreign experts.

The Process:

Select an occupation from the list that you want to research. Obtain the following information from Mrs. Gerbig in the Transition Center, room A-6. Mrs. Gerbig is in charge of the Career Kokua program.

You MUST make an appointment with Mrs. Gerbig to discuss the information you desire and the day the material will be available for pick up. The material you acquire must include:

  1. job description (include the environment-small office, large firm, outdoors, etc.)
  2. salary
  3. job requirements
    • --any perks?
    • --advancement?
  4. high school courses one needs to prepare for occupation
  5. job outlook
  6. role person engaged in this profession plays in the garden project
Submit three (3) resources for your project. _____points
  • One (1) bibliography card and four (4) notecards are required for each source.
  • One (1) source and information must be from material obtained from Mrs.Gerbig
  • Two sources must be from the internet.
    • --One (1) of the two sources must be from a foreign country.
