Easter in the United States

From Mrs. Elder's Class

Dear Olya, Privet! Here comes a long letter from all of us.

You asked us to tell you about Easter in the United States. Some people think the Easter bunny comes to each house and brings candy and colored eggs to children. Sometimes we dye eggs pretty colors. Sometimes we send Easter cards. Sometimes we have Easter parties. On Easter morning children can look for baskets filled with candy or eggs or maybe toys. Maybe there will be an Easter egg hunt. Easter candy can be chocolate bunnies, chocolate eggs, jellybeans, candy shaped like eggs, marshmallow rabbits or chicks. That's the fun part of Easter. It really is a Christian religious holiday celebrating Jesus rising from the dead. Lots of people go to church on Easter to thank God for Jesus. All of us like Easter.

Now here are some questions for you:

What are duliches? What are they made of? How do you make them? Do you like them a lot? Do you eat them for Easter? Do you eat them all year long or just at special times?

What are some other things you like to eat? What do you like best for breakfast? What do you like best for lunch? What do you like best for dinner? Do you eat snacks? What is your favorite?

Do you have Earth Day in Russia? On Earth Day we all think about ways to make our earth better by recycling and keeping our world free from pollution. Some people help to clean up the environment. We want to do our part to keep the world clean and healthy for us all.

Mrs. Elder's class

Dear Mrs.Elder and her class,

I think you wanted to say 'kuliches', not 'duliches'. Kulich is a special Easter cake. And lots of Russian people can cook it. If you want too, Mrs. Weeg have a recipe of it. Usually we don't eat it at another days but I think there were no rules about it so you can try to make kulich when are you want. I have many favorite meals, I like just tasteful food. If you want to know about other national Russian dishes, that are pelmens, blins, okroshka and some other things. We eat potatoes and bread almost every day.

I didn't hear about Earth day in Russia. But many people try to make our land and water clearest. Well, hope to receive another questions from you,

Best wishes,
Olya
