Third grade students visited Mr. Bulaevsky's website - Integer Bars - and had fun showing the fraction 1/2 with the colored bars. The smaller numbers were a snap. 1 is half of 2. 3 is half of 6. 4 is half of 8. Half of 18 was a challenge until the students made an estimate and then moved their bars into place. When they made a mistake they moved the bars to the recycle bin and tried again.
